What I'm Listening To

Since I mainly wanted to use this for music related posts I thought i'd do a quick post about what music i've been listening to a lot this week. I also am contemplating writing a review of The Courteeners and One Direction from this week but i'm not much of a brilliant writer so we'll see.
Anyway my favourite songs at the moment are:

1) Lewis Watson - Into The Wild
I am completely addicted to this song at the moment. After following Lewis for quite a few years via tumblr/twitter, it's good to see how successful he's becoming and he deserves it completely. Into The Wild is such a beautiful song off his new EP 'The Wild' which is released in a few days I think.

2) Luther Vandross - Dance With My Father
I know this isn't a new song, but recently my Grandad died and this song was played at his funeral, so it suddenly has a whole lot of emotion attached to it for me. I really love the song, I think it is beautiful and although I do find it hard to listen to without crying at the moment, I find myself feeling quite comforted by it and it brings back a lot of personal memories for me.

3) The Courteeners - Are You In Love With A Notion
This song, from the new album ANNA, is so good and catchy. They opened with it at their gig last week and it got the crowd to an amazing start and I really can't stop listening to it. I wasn't keen on ANNA at first because I didn't think it lived up to their previous albums but it's 100% grown on me and this song is a particular favourite of mine.

4) Hudson Taylor - Battles
I recently saw Hudson Taylor supporting Jake Bugg on his most recent tour and I fell in love with them there and then. This song is one from their oldest EP but since i've only just started listening to their music, it's still quite new for me. I love this song and the rest of their music and I wouldn't be surprised if this is the band everyone will be talking about in the near future.

5) Bastille - Flaws
Bastille are the band everybody is loving at the moment and I am certainly one of those people. I first heard this song a few months ago playing in River Island and I liked it so much I googled the lyrics to find out who they were. Since then I've been completely hooked. Bastille are making an appearance at three of the festivals I will be attending this summer; Benicassim, Leeds Fest and Evolution and i'm so excited to see what they are like live, I really hope they don't disappoint.

I think I will do a post like this every week or so, because I know I enjoy seeing other peoples and finding new music, so hopefully my posts can help others find something new to listen to as well that they like. What are you listening to at the moment?

Topshop high heels

Here are just a few items that've caught my eye recently.

1 - Firstly, I think the white lace dress is beautiful. It's a shame white clothes do not suit me whatsoever because I want this so badly.
2 - These heels from topshop caught my eye when I was shopping the other week and I instantly fell in love. I absolutely love them and the chunkiness of the heel. These would be perfect to go out in, because they aren't too high and don't look like they would kill my feet. If only I had £80, I would definitely buy them.
3 - The maroon polka dot dress from Topshop has been out for quite a while and i've been wanting it for a long time. I tried it on a few weeks ago and loved it on me, however being the poor student I am I had to put it back.
4 - I love tie dye clothes at the moment, and with the horrible cold weather this tie dye jumper would be perfect with a pair of jeans.
5 - I saw this skirt a while ago online and have wanted it ever since. I love b&w checked clothes and this skirt is the perfect shape for my figure.

Leeds Festival 2013

So last night the third headliner and the rest of the main bands were announced for Leeds and Reading Festival, causing a lot of angry tweets on my twitter feed slating the festival for it's 'weakest line up yet'. I've been to Leeds Festival every year since 2009 and have seen some amazing bands in that time there, but every year i've always always hoped for Green Day to be announced because they're the one band that I haven't seen live that I would absolutely love to. So Green Day being announced last night was amazing, and I definitely want to go just to see them alone.
In terms of the rest of the line up, I also think it's pretty good! I'm so excited to be seeing Biffy Clyro, Fall Out Boy, Brand New, Frank Turner, Jake Bugg, Foals, Bastille, The 1975, Alt-J and quite a few more. So for me, I'm quite excited about the festival this year. I just need to save up some pennies and find a few friends to go with but i've managed every year before so I think i'll be just fine.
I'm not sure The Lumineers deserve their spot on the main stage so soon, but I really like their music so that will be interesting to see their set.
What do you think of the line up? Will you be going to Leeds/Reading this year?

Hello, i've decided to re-join the blogging world again, purely because it is something to do other than the million essays i'm trying to find the motivation to write. If you have/had tumblr you may know me as emilyono, or you may be like who the fuck are you. But I am Emily, i'm a 19 year old marketing student at Northumbria University. Like everyone else, I love music with a passion. My favourite band of all time is Oasis, but I am known by my friends/on twitter for my ridiculous love for One Night Only. I can't get enough of them. Also a huge fan of Jake Bugg, Arctic Monkeys, The Courteeners and One Direction.
I think this blog is going to be mainly general updates of happenings in my life. I go to a lot of gigs so i'll probably write about those as well.
So yeah that's about it, follow this blog if you're interested in what I have to say
